Episode One: SANCTUARY (Bowie takes the lead role in this first episode, starring as Julian Priest. The program is very much in the theme of the Nathan Adler diaries - murder for art etc...) Narration at the end: "I can see the ultimate act, that puts the boundaries of suicide, art, even death itself. I paid the price for immortality in more ways than one. Be careful what you wish for - you just might get it" "But sometimes, sometimes something happens and that need comes flooding out. Whatever the circumstances, the hunger inside you will take over and you will pay everything you have to satisfy it. Everything... and more." |
Episode Two: WRATH OF GOD Beginning: "A man's home is his castle, especially mine. But what is safety really? How bright do the lights have to be to vanquish the darkness? How thick are the walls that will make you feel safe? Not thick enough I wager. Not thick enough by half." End: "What is good, what is evil? The son, the inquisitor does God's work. For others he's the devil's truest disciple. Actions are a moral in and of themselves. It's not the what but the why, the how that shades a thing with goodness, or with ill. It's simply a question of context." |
Episode Three: I'M VERY DANGEROUS TONIGHT Beginning: "Human kind by it's very nature is capable of evil beyond imagination. Yet we delude ourselves into thinking that somehow, each of us is the exception to the rule. I would not, could not ever do such a thing we say smugly to ourselves. But we lie - the question is not whether we are capable of evil, course we are, it is our nature. The question is only what circumstances will turn that capability into action. You would never molest a child, perhaps that's true. But what I ask you, would you do to the person that molested yours?" End: "You can kill, you can betray, you can utterly destroy anything and anyone. You can give yourself over completely to your darkest passions but, passions fade. The consequences however, those you have to carry with you for the rest of your life." |
Episode Four: DREAM SENTINEL Beginning: "All living creatures are inherently fascinated by death, after all it's how we define life isn't it? It's not a logical need to explore death, only to look for it, be sure it'll find you. But some of us fear death, not out of curiosity but because we're compelled. Facing death is easy... facing life is hard." End: "Sometimes the need to escape is inescapable, whatever the cost, even when you know the only way out... is the only way out. Be careful in this life...(?) everything except yourself." (satelite link weak, dialogue inaudible for a second) |
Episode Five: APPROACHING DESDEMONA Beginning: (Sitting infront of a bank of TV's much like the scene from 'The Man Who Fell To Earth') "So many people are fasincated by what is real, the horrible naked truth. I on the other hand have always been far more fascinated by the artificial. Reality exists independantly of us, there is no need of human beings, one way or another. But art, by its very definition must be created." End: "We live in a modern age, on the cutting edge if you like. We're obsessed by the modern, so proud of this ever changing world. But the world doesn't change, not really, the facade may be new but what's inside us, what we really are. That remains the same." |
