The show started off pretty much as it had in Europe. The first new song was infact a bit of a
shock - Baby Universal. This was totally unexpected being a Tin Machine song but it did actually
work well with the rest of the set. Obviously it had been given a bit of a musical overhaul therefore
sounding fairly different to the original version.

The next newcomer was Aladdin Sane, a personal favourite of mine and a very welcome addition to
the set. The fact that Mike Garson was on keyboards made it all the more special and he certainly
added his eccentric and wild piano style that really makes this song stand out. Gail also did an
admiral job singing the second verse and adding harmonies at the end. Diamond Dogs was lively
and exciting with David adding the "this ain't rock n roll" bit at the beginning. Lust For Life was a
fabulous and rejuvenated addition, full of energy although it seemed a little unknown by a lot of
fans in the audience. Gail continued her lyrical input on Under Pressure and then David sang
Heroes, another new song to the set.
To start the encores David sang "Happy Birthday" to Reeves saying he'd only found out a short
while ago that it was his birthday. Coco then walked on with a cake for him. Ahh! Then they
continued with White Light White Heat.

Instead of ending the show with Moonage Daydream David came on for a second encore of All the
Young Dudes which was very well received. All in all a great start to the Japanese tour lasting
about 2 hours 10 mins.
