1989 saw the release of the first Tin Machine album, aptly named 'Tin Machine', and their first, small world tour. The tour took in only 12 dates around the whole world, playing only a handful of gigs in America, Europe and the UK. This was unusual in itself, but in Los Angeles the band played two shows in the same day, one as a matinee performance and the latter in the evening.
